The Cave Without a Name
For San Antonio Campuses first field trip, we all travelled about half an hour to the Cave Without a Name. Elementary bounced off first, eager to explore this underground wonder. As Secondary arrived, we all began to hear faint shrieks from below. As the excited elementary students emerged from the ground, huffing and puffing, it was now secondary's time to go.
Slowly but surely we all descended down the windy, slippery steps, ducking as we went. The cave felt damp and humid and was very dark. Huge formations hung from the cave roof, and small pools of water formed around them. Our guide proceeded to tell us about all different formations and their names. She took us into a smaller cave which was known as the food court. This was because all the formations in there were named after food!
As we finished
exploring all the different rooms and were on our way back, the guide decided
to turn off all lights and flashlights, just to give us the experience of how
dark it was! A few gasps were let out as the lights went out, it was so dark!! We
all then ventured back up and came out into the bright daylight, blinking and
squinting in the sun. What a cool field trip!!
