Nature Walk!
Wednesday,
January 23, 2019, started out a little differently than the rest of the
Exploratory days. Some of the secondary
students trudged through the snow, into the school loaded with hats, gloves,
boots, and everything else that could keep them warm; for today, they were
going to go on a Nature Walk led by Sara Hughes. After getting bundled up, the students and
one teacher got into teams of two. One
on each team had to blindfolded and be led by the other's directions out the
door, through the school yard, and down a ravine to the creek behind the
school. Then, they were allowed to take
off their blindfolds and relish the views.
Everything had just been freshly covered with snow so the students
enjoyed taking pictures and trying to identify newly laid tracks. They hiked all the way up the creek to the
beginning. During the trip they managed
to see an owl, beaver dam, and many other interesting sights! Sadly, soon it was time to go back and so the
people who were not blindfolded before, donned the scarves, and took their
turn. These people made their way on a
twisting turning journey all the way back to the school! Unfortunately, this route cannot be explained
better, as the writer was one of blindfolded subjects! Overall, the individuals who took this hike
had an exhilarating time and hope to do more like it in the future!
