I FLY & The Raptor Center

02/27/2019

On February 27th, the Minneapolis school united and piled in a vast array of vehicles to go to iFLY in Minnetonka. At approximately 10:00 A.M. the Secondary and Elementary shuffled towards the building and were greeted by a loud wind noise. After we entered, before our eyes laid a 12 wide tunnel with flight instructors showing their superior skills performing vast arrays of tricks. Then our instructor, who's name we all seem to forget, greeted us. He explained a few different things about how the wind tunnel worked, he also put some stuffed animals in there to explain mass and then some water, all of which were intriguing. Then we went off to classrooms to calculate different measurements about each of our body mass, none of them made sense, but it was interesting experience. Then after a monotonous wait we finally got to go in the wind tunnel. 1 minute each of course, then we went again for another minute each. According to Jayden Lock, "An exuberant experience" and as described by Kelsie Kendall, "Windy" After we finished in the tunnel we joined back in the two classrooms and ordered lunch form the fabulous Zupa's café. After we gorged out on the food we debriefed and got iFLY merch. After we finished at iFLY, we embarked in our vehicles to the renowned Raptor Center. At the Raptor Center we sat in a classroom and listened to Jim talking about and stroking his Peregrine falcon. He told us that you should not creep up behind raptors because it makes them nervous also. Then he brought out a Goshawk, and then a Eastern Screech owl and then he handed out a variety of bird feathers. After that we went outside in what felt like rags, and were greeted by a shivering amounts of cold. In the end we went home after a long day to reflect on our journeys to the rest of our families.
