Council Bluffs

Welcome to the Council Bluffs Campus! We have 30 students and staff altogether here. Our school store is on the school grounds as well as a separate building for our science teacher, Mr. Cooper.
Our school opened in 2004 beginning at grade 6. Our school was first called Bridgewood Education but as the years went on, it evolved into Sterling Education becoming part of Sterling West and is now called Sterling West Council Bluffs Campus.
Mr. Cooper has been with us for 11 years. He has chosen to retire this year after his long association with Sterling. He will be missed greatly but after 44 years of teaching, he deserves some time off. Mrs. Pack is our elementary teacher and she has been with Sterling for five years. Mrs. Emmons is our newest edition. She joined the team this year as our student success coordinator. Mrs. Zachary is our amazing Campus Principal. She has been with us for two years and she always has a bright smile on her face. She makes school fun and interesting. She is always helping and being kind to others. We appreciate all of our teachers as they are what keeps the school going.

Elementary Field Trip

We recently went to the capitol building in Lincoln, NE. Third and
fourth graders have been studying people, laws, and Democracy. The kids
were given a 45 minute tour and the guide shared specific information about the
history of the building. The columns were quite the sight to see.
Some of them weighed 15 tons! We were able to get a private showing of
the courtroom. The guide explained to the children how a unicameral
works. The kids were able to recite what our three branches of government
are; Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Many of the art pieces around
the building showed important events in the history of Nebraska.
There were different depictions of life in pioneer days. Bison and
corn were woven into chandeliers and door decor to remind us what the pioneers
ate to stay alive. Many important people were memorialized with statues
and a description of what they had contributed to the history of
Nebraska. We saw many senators as we walked through the halls and even took
a little time to listen to them as they voted on a few bills. It was a
very enriching educational experience.

On February 13th, the Council Bluffs SLT rolled out a food drive to aid those affected by the government shutdown. We set a goal of 100 pounds of food by March 1st. We quickly exceeded that goal. We raised the goal to 300 pounds and on March 1st, we weighed all of the boxes and ended up with approximately 270 LBS!! The drive allowed all of the students to meet their community service goals of ten hours. Today, we delivered the food to a local homeless shelter and as a reward to the students for crushing our initial goal, the whole school went ice skating. It was a blast!
